The President received letters of credence from Nepalese Ambassador

Wednesday, February 21, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė received letters of credence from Ambassador Yuba Nath Lamsal of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.

The President emphasized that the appointment of the very first Nepalese ambassador to Lithuania would open new opportunities for the development of bilateral relations. At their meeting, the President and the Ambassador discussed political, economic, academic, and cultural cooperation.

Dalia Grybauskaitė invited President Bidya Devi Bhandari of Nepal to join the Council of Women World Leaders and to attend the Women Political Leaders Summit in Vilnius. The President of Lithuania is Chair of the Council of Women World Leaders.

Dalia Grybauskaitė expressed Lithuania’s readiness to share knowledge and experience gained in upgrading state institutions, improving their efficiency and transparency. This coming March, officials from the Nepalese Ministry of Finance are scheduled to visit Vilnius to meet with their Lithuanian counterparts at the State Tax Inspectorate and to get a better insight into Lithuania’s tax collection system.

It was noted at the meeting that academic, cultural and tourist exchanges were growing and expanding. At the present moment, there are 21 students from Nepal enrolled in Lithuania’s higher education programs.

Yuba Nath Lamsal studied history, literature and communication. For many years he had worked as journalist and editor-in-chief of Nepal’s English daily. He is author of many articles on foreign policy, democracy, human rights, and international affairs The Ambassador resides in Denmark.
